I finally broke down and picked up a Save Phace Mask. Unfortunately, the graphics are not to my standards. Are there any tattoo artist willing to respray the mask at no cost or little cost?

    thx,

    Jack

the problem with getting a mask that already has graphics on it, is it is not paint it is a water graphic. So you will have to sand the graphic off before it can be painted. i would look up a good airbrush artist to do you graphics. That would be the way i would go.

The mask I bought is the Save Phace BC7 mask also called the skull mask. The graphics are really impressive but, not exactly woodsball camo. I want more like a stylized flectarn or woodland camo with some flames on the side similar to the "Army of Two Mask". My next step is to call the art College to see if there is someone who is looking to pad their portfolio.

Aside from spraying the mask my other thought was using a vinyl decal. Much like the vinyl wraps you see on cars.

Paul from Save Phace was really cool and super responsive. Within minutes he had sent me the directions to respray my mask.

Painting instructions for Save Phace Masks.
You must follow the instructions carefully and in order.

1.Clean mask with a alcohol base cleaning product. Clean thoroughly. You will need to wear latex heavy duty gloves to keep body acid off the mask during the painting process. Never touch a prepared surface with your bare hands!

    2. Using red scotchbritch,or an SOS pad, scuff the mask making sure you get a dull look on the entire mask. This promotes adhesion of the paint. This product can be obtained at your local paint store. You can skip the sanding part by using a metal etching primer.(recommended for professional painters use only)

    3. Clean again with alcohol base cleaner. Also use a tack rag to remove dust for a clean surface.

4 Apply an adhesion promoter such as bulldog brand or the equivalent. Follow the direction of the brand you are using.

    5. After the required dry time(5 mins with bulldog brand) apply the base color of your mask. If your applying graphics, allow base to dry completely, tack for dust and apply graphic paint scheme or water transfer graphic.
We recommend a base coat/ clear coat urethane finish. (2 stage paint system). Single stage paint doesn't take a hit very well. If using spray can paint, make sure that you follow step 2 thoroughly.

    6. After you have completed all work on base and graphic design/airbrush/decals. Tact for dust and apply the Clear coat finish. Apply in small amounts and build to 2 wet coats allowing 10-15 mins. between coats.

    7. after the last coat of clear, walk away from it and close the door. Movement around the mask will stir dust and dirty the finish.

    thx,

    Jack.
